'Danity Kane's' Aubrey O'Day Calls Out Music Exec 'Ex-Boss' on 'The Masked Singer'

Published on

Aubrey O'Day, one of the original members of girl group Danity Kane, was revealed as Ant during tonight's episode of The Masked Singer. But it was her exit speech that left viewers on the edge of their seats.

When asked by host Nick Cannon what made her decide to do the show, the "Damaged" singer said, "It's been a year, Nick," referring to the allegations and timeline of Combs' current legal battles.

After her story was noted as "one of the most powerful this season", O'Day said, "I just feel truly grateful to just be among so many beautiful people, such wonderful judges. You guys are such a positive, loving group."

But during what became a tense moment of will-she-won't-she, O'Day started, "My ex-boss, I'll go there," while looking at Cannon, who nodded his head and smiled, "he calls himself 'Love'," which Combs announced as his latest identity.

"He legally titled himself that and he uses the love heart [symbol] to express that everywhere he goes," she said. "He's in prison now and I just want to say to you guys, the love heart is now here."

Jenny McCarthy, one of the four judges, reassured O'Day, saying, "I hope you feel the healing at least beginning now and know that we are being healed by that as well. So, thank you. And I honor you for being here, I honor you for having a voice. And for helping, honestly."

It is no secret that O'Day, 41, who got her start in 2004 on MTV's Making the Band 3, which was then under the leadership of Combs, has been vocal about the music executive's alleged mistreatment of her during her time in the band, which she was eventually kicked out of in 2008.

But it was shocking to witness an unmasking as controversial as this where the celebrity nearly addressed another celebrity by name on air while their legal battles are still quite active. Close call!

Earlier in the episode, titled, "A Rat Pack Tribute Night", just before her performance of Peggy Lee's "Fever", O'Day kissed a framed photo of five female "Ants", revealing that she, too, was once in her own rat pack.

"I wouldn't be standing here without them," she said, referring to the other members of Danity Kane. "So, tonight, here's another chart-topper from my rat pack. You all will never know how much I love you, how much I care. You are resilient women who are capable of anything!"

But before O'Day closed out the show with a rendition of Katy Perry's "Wide Awake", fellow judge and singer Robin Thicke left her with this message, "What's great about this, and since we go way back, and I think what's most important for all of us is that when you have that kind of talent, that kind of a gift, just keep giving it and it will fill your spirit up because you're giving what God gave you, you're giving it back to us, so thank you."

Season 13 of The Masked Singer currently airs on FOX on Wednesday nights at 8pm EST.
