NBC's newest show "Songland" premiered last night, May 28, and The Bahamas #flewedout and showed out!

Unlike its contemporaries "The Voice", "American Idol" and "The Four: Battle for Stardom", which all focus on the contestant's singing ability, "Songland" focuses on the songwriting process, with a different group of four contestants in each round, vying for the chance to have their song be chosen and recorded by one of the show's eleven featured chart-topping artists.

On last night's premiere, The Bahamas' very own Pop and RnB singer, Tebby, who already has two singles under her belt ["Feel Alright" (2018) and "Medicine" (ft. Jeremih) (2018)], pitched her original song "We Need Love" to EGOT John Legend. The song, which at first had an up-tempo/Caribbean flare, gave the message of spreading love around the world, as that is what the world lacks (and needs) most today.

After advancing to the final round, Tebby collaborated with one of the show's three music producers, country music singer-songwriter Shane McAnally, to slow the tempo and pace of the song, transforming it into an inspirational melody that ultimately won the heart of John Legend.

I'm sure I speak for everyone in the #242 who was tuned in last night when I say that we were all BEYOND proud and probably all caused a mini earthquake across the sea with our pom-poms, whistles, horns, drums and screams when Legend announced Tebby as the winner!

Tebby's win not only put The Bahamas back on the map, joining the likes of Baha Men, Johnny Kemp, Lenny Kravitz, Julien Believe, Michael K. Williams, Sidney Poitier and others, but allowed her to make her own history as being "Songland's" first ever winner, with "We Need Love" landing at the #1 spot on iTunes RnB chart and #10 overall! #YouGoGirl!

It's always nice to hear good news about the place you call home and nice to see your Global Ambassadors go about the world sprinkling #BahaMagic on everything they touch! Along with "singer", Tebby can now add "songwriter for John Legend" to her repertoire and I'm sure much, much more in the near future!

Tune into NBC Tuesday nights at 10 to watch "Songland" which promises an entertaining and unique look into a side of record-making that fans rarely get to see, as contestants fight for the chance to have the show's remaining artists (Macklemore, will.i.am, Kelsea Ballerini, OneRepublic, Charlie Puth, Leona Lewis, Old Dominion, Jonas Brothers, Meghan Trainor and Aloe Blacc) record their hit song.
