Harlan Coben's 'I Will Find You' Proves Just How Far a Father's Love Can Go
If you've ever wondered how much a father could love his child, Harlen Coben's latest Netflix series I Will Find You offers the greatest answer.
The series, which premiered Thursday, June 18, just in time for Father's Day, follows David Burroughs (played by Avatar's Sam Worthington), who is on a mission to prove he did not kill his son.
Based on Coben's 2023 novel of the same name, I Will Find You takes audiences on a thrilling roller coaster of suspense, action and heart.
Not once will viewers be able to predict what happens next in any of the series' eight episodes as each episode does a fantastic job of creating its own storyline.
And with Severance's Britt Lower, Hawaii Five-0's Chi McBride, This is Us' Milo Ventimiglia, and Kingdom's Jonathan Tucker - along with Dear White People's Logan Browning, Gotham's Erin Richards, The Following's Aaron Ashmore, ReGenesis' Peter Outerbridge, Revenge's Madeleine Stowe, Frontier's Greg Bryk, Sullivan's Crossing's Hugh Thompson and Small Achievable Goals' Billy MacLellan - rounding out the cast, there leaves very little, if any, room for weak performances.
But SPOILER ALERT - in true Harlen Coben fashion, expect a twist! Coben has a way of producing his pieces with a plot that starts with one storyline which somehow turns into five other storylines before all is finally revealed. I Will Find You is no different.
Also, fans of Browning will be pleasantly surprised by her stealth and masterful use of a gun. The girl's got aim!
And while any Coben series is automatically a slam dunk, because the guy never misses, I did notice the new phenomenon where films/series do more telling and explaining than showing as a way to keep distracted audiences engaged and informed.
But TV writers everywhere - believe me when I say there are still many of us out there who would rather be shown not told! Give us the benefit of the doubt :-)
Overall, I Will Find You is a thrilling miniseries packed with action that leaves you on the edge of your seat, wanting more, from the beginning to the very last scene.
